Buzz Nights in a sentence
The Buzz Night Concept involved a number of persons playing quizzes on the playstation console, then performing 'forfeit challenges' and finally gaining points and awards according to their performance.
The person who had the most points at the end of the year was declared winner of their group, recieved a trophy and their place in the Hall of Fame.
The Quizzes
Several quizzes were introduced doing 2007 and 2008. Here are the different quizzes in order of first introduced to last. Usually on any night there were a combination of 2 or 3 of these played:
- Music Quiz
- Mega Quiz
- Hollywood Quiz
- Pop Quiz
- Schools Quiz
The Forfeit Challenges
These were fun tasks performed by the 2 persons in each team, sometimes in competition with another team. There were over 50 conceived over the 2 years, but only around 20 of the best ones were used. Later in 2008 'toys' were also brought in. A few examples of the most popular:
- Banana Jumping - The 2 players blindfolded had to hold on to one another with a banana balanced between their open mouths and jump from one side of the room to the other.
- Jelly Feast - The 2 players blindfolded one had to feed as much jelly to the other with a huge ladle within a certain time limit.
- Balloon Blitz - The 2 players blindfolded one was 'decorated with balloons' while the other, armed with a skewer had to pop them.
- Shocking Ball - 2 teams (not blindfolded) had to pass a ball around that randomly emitted an electronic shock and try not to drop it.
- Limbo Dancer - 2 teams competited here with one player from each team guiding their blindfolded partner to limbo under a limbo tube and bite the hanging marshmellows on their way under.
From Buzz Night #3, each of the other teams gave the team/s that took part a mark out of 10, and this was added to each of the player's scores.
The Awards
Excluding the highest award of finishing top of their group, each award gave a player a number of 'points'. Some were decided by Matt, others by the outcome of the Buzz quizzes. All awards were certificated each evening, with the night winner award also meriting a prize:
- Night winner - Which team won the most Buzz games - 5 points
- Buzz Game won - After each Buzz game - 3 points
- Greatest Forfeit - Matt awarded this to the team who were judged to have performed the best forfeit - 4 points
- Fastest Finger - Matt awarded this to the team who were judged to have consistently been fastest to answer questions - 2 points
- Innovator Award - Matt awarded this to person/s who contributed to the night in a unique way, usually by their outfit - 2 points
- Entertainer Award - Matt awarded this to person/s who generally caused the most hilarity during the evening - 2 points
- Teamwork - Matt awarded this to the team that worked the best together, usually during the forfeit challenge - 2 points
Note: In each group's final year table positions, 'Overall Night Winner' is not included in the 'Awards won' column as this is indicated by the 'Nights Won' column.
