Organising a Weekend Warmup
Step 1/ Choose an activity.
Anything can be done from a night you host in your home to something you don't normally do. The Cinema is the only activity that is not recommened as it does not encourage social-interaction. If you can do an item on this list (or one you think of) that hasn't been done then its bonus points to you!
Step 2/ Choose your 'players' and send invites
Choose a suitable number of persons for the event, bearing in mind it remains your responsbility as the organiser to only invite persons whom you are sure will behave in responsible manner.
You can't invite everyone - thats just a fact. You will need to think about the activity you are doing and invite a suitable number. The location of the event is also a factor in who you invite.
Send invites out early and keep track of responses - its preferrable to send your invites out 3 weeks in advance. That way you are able to invite others if you any person on your originial list can't make it.
If you need contact mobile numbers or email addresses for anyone feel free to contact me to obtain these details (their permission will be asked first).
Step 3/ Communicate regularly & prepare
After the initial invite you will need to remind those who don't respond and ensure final details are sent out on the week of the event. Everyone should know: What the event is, where it is (including directions if necessary), the start/finish times, any dress requirements, anything they should bring and your contact details.
Any preperation will depend on what type of event it is, and this is mainly concerning events at your home. However good planning of your time schedule for the day of the event will ensure you will not be held up or running late and thus keeping everyone guessing!
Conclusion: Planning an event does take some effort, but it is a rewarding experience and a chance to give back something to the people who have organised event's for you to attend over the years.
